Board Of Director Biographies

Lisa L. Morris, Board Chair (Director 2010-2014)

Director Morris moved to Rio Linda in 1990. Director Morris and her husband Hal have five children and five grandchildren. In addition to serving on the Recreation and Park Board, she is also is the President of the RLE Chamber of Commerce ,Twin Rivers Unified School District Advisory Committee, (DAC), Orchard Elementary School Oversight Committee for seven years. Besides being very active in the Community, she is dedicated to taking care of her family members that need medical assistance.
She has previously served on Rio Linda Union School District Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee. In the past she coached and was a team mom for Rio Linda Little League.
She ran for the Recreation and Park Board because she has several children and grandchildren and would like to see more activities for young kids, teens, adults, and seniors in the community. She believes that the RLERPD has made a lot of progress by acquiring Hayer Memorial Race Track- home of the Capitol Quarter Midget Club, obtaining a donated 1927 Fire Truck and having a MOU with Sac Metro Fire to turn old Fire house 111 into a museum for our community and completing the snack bar/ restroom at Babe Best Park. She is looking forward to the grand-opening of the Armand Nadeau Dog Park and the Ground Breaking Event of the New Skate Park.
Director Morris has a few things on her list of things to be accomplished this year. One would be to try to make our parks safer so everyone can comfortably enjoy our parks (we are presently working on at this).   The second thing would be the completion of the Skate board Park. The third thing would be protecting our Park Land that includes the Northwest Territories and the area which is called the Pan-Handle.

She is also proud that staff has done a wonderful job making the parks look green and beautiful. We have a sustainability plan put into place and this eventually would benefit the district so our District will look nicer and we would use less water in the future. She also compliments our office staff for doing such a superb job. She also enjoys working with other board members to try to make improvements in our Park System.

Wayne Del Nero, Vice Chair (Director 2010-2014)

Becky McDaniel, Secretary (Director 2010-2014)

Director McDaniel has been a resident of Rio Linda since 1986. She began her career in recreation at age 15 with the City of Vacaville working in the youth sports programming department. After graduating with a BS degree in Physical Education from CSU Sacramento, she returned to Vacaville. Wanting to care for her aging grandparents, Becky moved to Rio Linda and worked for the Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District from 1988 to 2001 as a Recreation Supervisor. She still works in the recreation field and is an active coach for her daughter's local AYSO team. When approached and asked to run for the park board, she viewed it as a golden opportunity to give something back to the community that supported her when she was an employee of the park district.
Becky's experience and knowledge of the field of recreation enables her ot make sound decisions about the Park District and her time on the board has been very rewarding. The current Board of Directors is working very hard to ensure that the recreation programs offered are of good quality and the parks our residents visit are clean, beautiful, and safe. Each of us believes that collectively, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our residents.

Finally, she would like to thank the current Administrator and staff for working so hard with the Board of Directors in establishing a sound Strategic Plan for the future of our community. It has truly been a team effort from the beginning and our residents will be able to enjoy the benefits of recreation for many years to come because of the dedication of the individuals involved in the process. Please don't hesitate to join us at a meeting as the current elected Board of Directors is always interested as to how we can make your park and recreation experience a positive one in Rio Linda Elverta.

Bob McKenzie, Director (2010-2014)

Bob McKenzie is a lifetime resident of Rio Linda, currently residing in the Elverta area. He attended Vineland-Rio Linda Elementary School, as well as Rio Linda Jr. and Sr. High Schools graduating in 1970. He has a bachelor of science from Oregon State University (1975; go Beavers!). He has three daughters: Sarah (27), Amy Jo (25) and Holly (15). Holly currently attends Rio Linda Senior High School. Bob has 26 years of experience in the rice industry from planting to packaging and his love of farming led him to start his own landscape business. He has a General “B”, C-27 Landscape Contractor license as well as a DO6 Concrete Specialty license and a Qualified Applicator License for pesticide and fertilizer uses. Bob finds cultivating healthy, attractive landscapes to be therapeutic and when asked why he is in the business, Bob’s response is “Like any farmer will tell you, I like to watch it grow!” In addition, to his successful career in the landscape business, Bob is also skilled in loan, real estate and construction management. A Rio Linda Elverta Lions Club member since 1994, he has led or participated in a number of community projects focused primarily on children. He is currently working to establish a Leos Club to provide a vehicle for local youth to deliver volunteer community services.
Bob describes his leadership style as a facilitator enabling others to be more productive and successful. He refers to former RLERPD board member Loren Monroe Jr., as a key mentor for problem solving and identifying alternatives for tackling community issues. Bob says, “I believe that for every problem there is a solution. In order of priority, my reasons for running for District office are to:
-    Work with the Twin Rivers Unified School District to solve the Panhandle annexation issue and regain the former partnership between the two districts.
-         Obtain the right to utilize Gibson Ranch for the Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District.   The District needs to partner with Doug Ose to use Gibson Ranch for a minimum of two major events per year. One event could offset the property tax loss from Handle acquisition by the School District.
-      Evolve Park Maintenance standards into policy or adopt the approved Sustainability Plan as a way of operation. Offer residents the “Park Experience” for a better way of life.
-         Initiate an opportunity for two new sports complexes and renovate existing fields for better utilization by local sports team.
-         Work with the RLE Foundation for the Future Board of Directors to identify new fundraising opportunities for capital improvement projects.
Establish the RLERPD as a model on how a park agency can efficiently meet the needs of the community it serves.
-         Have a Punt, Pass, and Kick winner from our district.
“This is a contractor community that is willing to help if we ask for it, and I am not afraid to ask. I really enjoy the end result more than the recognition that comes with a completed project.”
