Westside Park & Armand Nadeau Dog Park Renovation!
Date: May 10, 2011
Nadeau Dog Park Nears Completion
Despite a series of weather-related delays, the Armand Nadeau Dog Park at Westside Park is nearing completion. Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District staff installed fencing and irrigation this spring with turf seeding scheduled for late May.
The dog park as well as new softball field lighting was funded by a State Parks Per-Capita grant through the Resource Bond Act for Capital Projects. Adult softball under the lights began May 1st and the dog park will open in late July.
The Nadeau Dog Park provides two acres of open turf with separate areas for large and small dogs to play off leash. Leashes are required in all park areas outside of the dog park.
Other improvements funded by the Resource Bond Act include a new scoreboard, scorer’s booth, rewiring the softball fence and backstop, drinking fountains, and bollard replacement.

City and County clear the way for annexation of Park District land!
The City and County of Sacramento approved a revenue sharing agreement between themselves allowing the City to go forward with the annexation of the "handle" portion of land within the Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District.
The City has proposed and agreed to pay the RLE Recreation and Park District $18,000 per-year for 5 years, then however, no further payments after that. Which means, over time the RLE Recreation and Park District will loose millions of dollars in property tax revenue! Currently those monies are currently used for Parks and Recreation services to Rio Linda Elverta, which is approximately $12,000 per-year.The next step is the City and County will need to seek approval of Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO) sometime in January.
